Diver above the hydrogen sulfide cloud in Angelita cenote.

Angelita and Carwash cenote diving day: 2 dives, the hydrogen sulfide cloud and the Carwash cavern line

Angelita cenote diving and the cavern line of Carwash make two different dives in one day, with a cave guide or instructor. The first is the hydrogen sulfide cloud of Angelita, the second the open cenote of Carwash. The price includes hotel pickup from Playa del Carmen, entrance fees, tanks with air and weights. Casa Cenote can replace Carwash at the same price. You can also add a third dive in Dos Ojos or Dreamgate.

Angelita cenote diving and Carwash: the cenotes of the day

  • Angelita is a pond about 25 m across in the jungle south of Tulum. At 27 m a layer of hydrogen sulfide separates the fresh and salt water. It looks like a cloud, with an island of dead branches in the middle. Description, map and video: /2023/04/08/angelita-cenote/
  • Carwash (Aktun Ha) is an open cenote by the road to Coba, about 50 m across. The entry is easy from a deck, and the cavern line runs below. From late October to late March the water is clear. The rest of the year an algae layer sits on top, and the dive goes under it. Carwash.
  • Casa Cenote: no catalog page yet, no link (Alex, 2026-11-01).
